Educational Licence

These are the terms for the 52-minute classroom edition of I Am Gen Z and its teaching pack. By downloading or streaming the film, your school agrees to them.

In brief

  • The licence lasts three years from the date of your invoice.
  • You can show the film as often as you like in the classroom, and at private screenings for your school’s own purposes, for example to staff, parents or governors.
  • Screenings must be free to attend and not advertised to the public.
  • Don’t copy, share, upload, stream or broadcast the film, or share the download or streaming links, or their passwords, outside your school.
  • For anything else, such as showing the feature-length film, a public or ticketed screening, or a charity or fundraising screening, please contact us first.
  • The licence fee is the amount on your invoice, and is non-refundable.

Educational Licence terms

1. Parties

This Educational Licence is between Swipe Left For Addiction Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11482564), whose registered office is at 167–169 Great Portland Street, London W1W 5PF (the “Licensor”), and the school, college or other educational organisation named on the Licensor’s invoice (the “Licensee”).

2. Definitions

“Documentary” means the 52-minute educational edition of the documentary film I Am Gen Z, supplied as a digital file.

“Teaching Materials” means the teaching pack for the Documentary published online by the Licensor, including any updates made during the Licence Period.

“Licence Period” means three (3) years from the date of the Licensor’s invoice to the Licensee.

3. Licence

In exchange for the Licence Fee, the Licensor grants the Licensee a non-exclusive, non-sublicensable, non-transferable right, for the Licence Period, to exhibit the Documentary:

(a) to students of the Licensee in the course of its teaching, as many times as the Licensee wishes; and

(b) at private screenings for the Licensee’s own educational purposes, to its students, staff, parents and guardians, and governors or trustees, at premises operated by or related to the Licensee.

No admission may be charged for any screening, and screenings may be promoted only to members of the Licensee’s own community, not advertised to the public.

4. Other uses

Any other use, display, showing, distribution or exploitation of the Documentary is strictly prohibited without the Licensor’s prior written consent and payment of any applicable fee. This includes, without limitation: showing the feature-length version of the film; public screenings; screenings for which admission is charged, including charity or fundraising screenings; festival, cinema or broadcast use; and making the Documentary available online, including on a school’s learning platform.

5. Delivery

The Licensor will supply one (1) digital copy of the Documentary by download, access to stream it through a password-protected online link, and access to the Teaching Materials, for the Licence Period. The Licensee may keep the digital copy on its own devices and internal systems solely to exercise the rights in clause 3.

6. Licence Fee

The Licence Fee is the amount stated on the Licensor’s invoice, plus VAT, and is payable on that invoice. The Licence Fee is non-refundable.

7. End of the Licence Period

At the end of the Licence Period, unless the licence is renewed, the Licensee must stop exhibiting the Documentary and permanently delete all copies of it in its possession or control.

8. Ownership

The Licensee is granted no rights to the ownership of the Documentary, the Teaching Materials or any materials contained in them. The Licensee may not modify the Documentary, reproduce it except as permitted by clause 5, or prepare derivative works based on it, and may not use any trademarks or other intellectual property rights in the Documentary except as set out in this licence.

The Licensee will not knowingly, nor encourage or assist a third party to, challenge the validity or ownership of any copyright, trademark or other intellectual property right of the Licensor or any of its affiliates, and will not use the Licensor’s trademarks or copyright-protected materials in any manner that would diminish their value or harm the Licensor’s reputation.

9. Restrictions

The Licensee shall not permit the Documentary to be duplicated (except as permitted by clause 5), sold, loaned, transferred, televised, or made available online or to any other party, at any time or in any manner other than as provided in this licence. The Licensee shall keep the download and streaming links for the Documentary, and the passwords for the streaming link and the Teaching Materials, within its own organisation.

10. Teaching Materials

The Licensee’s staff may use, print and copy the Teaching Materials for teaching within the Licensee’s organisation during the Licence Period. The Teaching Materials may not be published, sold or shared outside the Licensee’s organisation.

11. Title and credit

In any internal materials about a screening, the Licensee must use the full and correct title of the Documentary: I Am Gen Z.

12. Warranties and indemnities

The Licensor represents and warrants that it has the full right, power and authority to enter into this licence and to grant the rights in it.

The Licensee shall comply with the Universal Copyright Convention and the laws of England and Wales to protect the copyright of the Documentary.

The Licensee agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Licensor, its affiliates and their respective officers, directors, agents and employees from and against any liability, losses, claims, demands or damages arising out of the Licensee’s use of the Documentary or breach of this licence. The Licensor agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Licensee, its affiliates and their respective officers, directors, agents and employees from and against any liability, losses, claims, demands or damages arising out of any breach of the Licensor’s warranty above. Each party will give the other prompt notice of any claim. These indemnities survive the end of this licence.

13. Termination

If the Licensee breaches this licence, the Licensor may end it immediately by written notice, and the Licensee must then stop exhibiting the Documentary and delete all copies of it. No part of the Licence Fee is refundable.

14. General

This licence is the entire agreement between the parties about the Documentary and the Teaching Materials. It is governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. It may be changed only in writing signed by an authorised signatory of each party.

15. Acceptance

By downloading or streaming the Documentary, the Licensee acknowledges that it has read and understood these terms and accepts them, and the person downloading or streaming it confirms that they are authorised to accept them on the Licensee’s behalf.
