Liz Smith – Director & Editor

Liz started her career in media and in the late 90s joined one of Silicon Valley’s early internet companies, Yahoo!. In 2002 she made the decision to change career path and left to study at The London Film School and has been working as a filmmaker ever since. Over the intervening years she has built up skills in directing, cinematography, editing and motion graphics, all of which she has been able to apply to the making of “I Am Gen Z”. A versatile filmmaker, you can also see examples of her work produced under the banner of her own production company, EntertainingTV.

Liz is interested in what makes human beings tick, and how psychology, philosophy and politics drive contemporary behaviour. She is a mental health advocate, the host of What’s Going On In Your Head? and the co-founder and creator of The Secret Illness. For further information please visit her website.


CHANteLLE DE CARVALHO – PRODUCER

A creative producer, Chantelle began her career in the entertainment industry in the theatre, directing and acting in contemporary and classic works.  As Head of Production for Film38 and Entertaining:TV she oversaw all production activity for varied commercial projects for top international digital agencies and premium brands and was Development Executive in charge of feature film production. She formed Coco&Claude Films Ltd to develop and produce a slate of feature film projects and other narrative works.  The company strives to create films with high production values and strong narrative elements, particularly embracing female led projects and extraordinary characters within heart-warming human stories. 

Chantelle’s award-winning short films have screened at several international film festivals while her feature film credits include, “The Hatching”, a comedy/beast horror,  “The Secret Philosophy”,  an art house drama,  “Credo”,  a supernatural thriller aka  “The Devil’s Curse” (Lionsgate US) and  “Copposites”,  a body-swap comedy. Chantelle has collaborated with Liz Smith on many varied projects and “i Am Gen Z” is their first documentary collaboration.


Kim halliday – Composer & Music Supervisor

Kim is an award winning media composer & musician working in London. His music is an evolving and revolving mixture of trip hop, reggae and film noir, designed to comfort and disturb in equal measure. His scores have encompassed horror, comedy, drama, musicals and child birth, while his albums have been described as “Sonic Youth meets Bernard Herrmann” and “Face-Bashing All-Out Guitar Assault”.  

Kim is compiling/arranging/creating the soundtrack album for “I Am Gen Z” which features the talents of the exciting young, upcoming musicians who contributed to the documentary.
